5 Works
The client was already delivering food, groceries and pharmacy items, but each category ran on its
own software with its own list of shops. A customer who wanted dinner and a box of paracetamol
had to place two orders and pay two delivery fees, and most of them simply rang the office instead.
Riders were dispatched over the phone, so nobody could tell a waiting customer where their order
was. Every busy evening ended with the same two questions from the team: which rider has this,
and has the shop even started cooking.
Customers browse restaurants, grocers and pharmacies in the
same app and add items from more than one shop to a single
basket. The app splits the order behind the scenes, sends each
shop only its own items, and charges one delivery fee.
You can see where your food is
Once a rider accepts, the customer watches the order move on a
live map with a realistic arrival time. Support stopped fielding calls
asking where an order was, because the answer is on the screen.
A customer opens a group basket and shares a link so friends add
their own items and the total splits automatically. The same
engine powers gifting, where you pay for a meal and someone
else chooses and receives it.
A multi shop basket is harder than it looks: three kitchens work at
different speeds and the customer only wants one delivery. We built a
small dispatcher that starts each shop at a calculated time so the
last item is ready as the rider arrives, and shows the customer a
single order with three quiet progress lines underneath.
